William Torza (a.k.a. Billy), Torza's Professional Golf Center's owner, has a long family history loving the game of golf and running the family golf driving range business. His father, Camille Torza, opened his first driving range in Hartford on Jordon Lane. The land now occupied by Corbins Corner across from Westfarms Mall was his second location. His last location before his death was in Farmington, which Billy took over for a short period of time before it sold.
After working for his father for most of his life, he started his own driving range, Meadows Golf in Hartford, CT, which he operated for twelve years. He then opened 100 Acres in Old Lyme, CT which he ran for seven years.
Billy has now settled in Cromwell, CT, home of the Buick Open (originally known as the GHO), where he runs Torza's Professional Golf Center. You can almost always find him at his place of business working in all weather including the cold, rain, snow and even hail. He is well known for getting to know his customers on a first name basis, whether they are members or frequent customers. His motto has always been "Work Hard", unless of course you're golfing!
